This poem was inspired by The Wild Hunt, an ancient folk tale that tells of a horde of spectral hunters, tearing across the night in pursuit of some unknown thing. Although widely viewed as an ill omen, perhaps of plague or death, in Scandinavia The Wild Hunt was believed to be a group of Asgardian hunters led by Odin.
I’ve always been intrigued by the story, and so decided to draw this pack of grim huntsmen bearing down on a stave church for Lithography class.
